Twin Newborn Photography
Twin Newborn Photography – I got to meet Adam and Luna 13 days after they were born. Mum did not only have 2 week old twins to deal with, but an 18 month daughter. Beautiful children, but an age where they all need plenty of attention. Here are a few tips to help you deal with those early days as a twin newborn Mum.
Tips on Dealing with Twin Babies…
1) If family and friends offer help – accept it! Especially if you have an older child. Let them play with your older child for a while, help bath the babies, make you a cup of tea or a meal. They are your friends and family, and Mums know how tiring o
ne newborn baby is never mind two, so don’t feel bad for accepting help. We already think you’re a superhero, so there’s no need to prove it 😉
2) Nurse babies together and put them down together. I know, easier said than done. But you need rest to and the sooner the babies are in a routine of eating and sleeping at the same time, you can get some rest or take a shower.
3) Get a double buggy and make sure you know how to work it. You suddenly remember something that needs done and you put the babies down in the crib or bouncy chairs, but can’t see them and know you’ll be away from the room for more than a few minutes. Why not put them in the buggy and take them with you? The pushing motion may even get them to sleep.
4) Your baby will be fine if you lay them on the floor (playpen for when they start crawling) and go to the toilet or get a glass of water. They might scream the house down, but they’ll be fine and you’ll be a lot less relieved once you come back into the room
Adam and Luna…
As is often the case, one twin is born bigger than the other. Adam was a whole 1kg bigger than Luna. Luna is the smallest baby I’ve ever photographed. However, she might have been dinky, but she was very alert. Adam was completely chilled. Although there were two newborns to work with, I still managed to complete the shoot in the average of 3 hours. I got some beautiful images for Mum and Dad to treasure and they loved them.
