Fine Art style is a style that is all too commonly misunderstood. Photographers call themselves fine art photographers without a full understanding of the meaning. Art is always interpreted differently, so will one photographer might feel that fine art photography is high standard, luxurious images, it is in fact a certain style. It’s also not just an image with a texture on the backdrop. There are several factors that are included in fine art photography.
1) Styling- harmonious colours and vintage type fabrics and fashion trends.
2) Texture – textured/mottled type backdrops that are usually darker in colour. Often browns and blacks.
3 Lighting Patterns – classic lighting patterns are essential. Especially a Rembrandt lighting patterns for the ultimate fine art style
4) Fine Art style and fine art are 2 different ideas. Fine Art is the type of styling composed in the image to produce the final product. However, this image is specific for a person or family. Fine Art images are those that any purchaser would buy as wall art for their home. Something that is beautifully styled and designed for your interior design. The person in the image can be anyone, rather than someone’s child, friend or family member.
When looking for a Fine Art style photo shoot, please bear these in mind. Also bear in mind that these types of shoots take a lot if planning between client the photographer, so do allow time to plan. Especially if props need to be sourced.
As your fine art Photographer, I know I would want at least 2 weeks or more to ensure that the image I produce is what you have in mind.
